What Exactly Is Hypnosis?

Here is a dictionary definition:

Hypnosis is the induction of a state of consciousness in which a person is very conscious of suggestion or direction.

Going into a bit more detail though, you could say that hypnosis is often over exaggerated. Hypnosis is used to describe a trance like state.

However, actually we all go in and out of mild “trances” every day; such as in those moments when our minds wander and we fantasize, even when we just shut the planet out and deeply focus on a book we are reading.

These trance like states, and they are all safe and natural. Hypnosis simply puts you into one of these mild “trance” states purposefully , and over time the hypnotist plants simple, beneficial messages into your subconscious mind.

Far from being asleep or unaware, hypnosis is a wakeful state where you are both relaxed but your thoughts are focused.

Due to this heightened state of mind it is possible to use hypnosis to rewire your self beliefs and patterns of thinking.

To sum up very briefly it is often said that hypnosis gains access to the unconscious mind to eradicate the negative beliefs which hinder personal development.

What can be done?

Hypnosis has a history of treating phobic disorders and fears, or at least this is the way it first started out. It then started to be used with great success for weight loss and stopping smoking.

Hypnosis is now used for the reduction of almost any bad belief, it is used to help a wide range of health problems, and is massively effective for improving self beliefs such as confidence and self esteem.

How to attract abundance automatically thru The Power Of Practice...

By Kevin & Matt @Mind-Body Training

In today's coaching article, I want to share with you a powerful secret for manifesting ALL the wealth, abundance, peace, love and success you truly desire in your life.

(And this goes way beyond what you may have heard in the Secret. In my 30 years of experience teaching this stuff, what I'm about to share with you is the REAL "secret sauce" for attracting not only an abundance of financial "wealth", but also MASSIVE results in ANY area of your life.)

Are you with me yet? ;)

Good!

Now... the first thing I want you to understand is that your HABITS of mind AND body are what creates your reality.

And your habits are driven by "triggers" or "cues" that are mostly unconscious to you...

Did you know...

An amazing amount of money is spent by large corporations to understand you better. They know the cues that trigger your habitual routines and the rewards you’re looking for. They know where you go, what time of day, and what for. From all the info they gather, they create a portrait of who you are as a consumer.

Armed with this information, they offer you incentives that match your desires, so you’ll buy more of their products.

Interestingly, this is exactly the information that can help you if you’re trying to quit a bad habit or establish a good one.

You’ll be much more successful if you understand the cues that trigger your behavior and the rewards you’re really seeking.

If you understand each of these components - the cue, the behavioral routine, and the anticipated reward- you will be able to step into your habits and design them to work for you rather than against you.

Cues can be locations, times of day, emotional states, the people around you, or what you are doing. For example, you might be cued into a certain behavior, like drinking a soda by being at work, in the afternoon, when you are a little bored
or tired, alone in your office, and stuck in a tedious task.

Those cues might drive you to the break-room, at about 3 p.m. every day, to get a soda. That’s your behavioral routine.

That’s your habit.

Your anticipated reward might be the sugar and caffeine high, the social interaction, or just the break from where you are and what you are doing.

Now, what if you’re trying to lose weight and that sugary pick-me-up is getting in your way?

If you don’t know the factors that created this habit, it can be very hard to kick it.

On the other hand, if you understand what is cuing your behavior and the rewards you are seeking, you could design a behavior that can give you same rewards, without the undesirable side-effect—in this case, the sugar, which is
killing your chances of losing weight.

A good place to start is by understanding the reward that you’re after. For example, if the reward you really want is a break from sitting in your office and doing tedious work, you could take a walk outside. If what you are looking for is a little social interaction, you could ask a co-worker to take that walk with you.

If you want a pick-me-up, you could have some green tea, which will do the trick, while also helping you lose the weight. If you substitute any of those behaviors when you hit your afternoon cues, you’ll get the reward you want while moving toward your weight loss goal at the same time.

When you understand a habit, you can step into it in a more conscious intentional way. You can experiment with different behaviors and rewards, so you can make better choices to give you what you truly desire.

Enjoy your practice!

5 hypnotic techniques to enrapture your listeners...

How to hypnotize your audience...

Hypnotize Your Audience
The first thing any good hypnosis trainer will tell you is that to be an effective hypnotist, you need to be confident. That way you inspire confidence in your subject and they are free to relax with you.
The same is true if you want to hypnotize your audience when presenting. First, you need to inspire confidence in them, and to do that you need to be free of anxiety.

And when I talk about hypnotizing your audience, please forget the clichés of watch swinging, cluck-like-a-chicken merchants. I'm talking about the hypnosis of life.

Help your audience leave the room

When you hypnotize someone you get them to "leave the room" as they "travel" along your narrative within their mind.

You achieve this by focusing their attention so intently that your words start to have a real effect on their experience - both conscious and unconscious. A skilled hypnotist can help you change the workings of your immune system or blood flow with their words. Think what effect you could have on an audience you are looking to influence.

So why do I talk about "hypnosis" when describing the effect a great presenter has?

Hypnosis and the art of presenting

Hypnosis involves:
  • Narrowed Focus
  • Disassociation
  • Learning
Any presenter will agree that you want to be compelling enough to focus your audience on what you are saying. You want them disassociated from their environment and concerns so that they travel with you to other times, places and possibilities. And you want them to adopt, at least for a while, new ways of seeing reality.

Hypnosis in therapy is so powerful because it helps people learn new ways of responding to life so that low confidence, phobias or addictions no longer trip them up. When you present powerfully you focus your audience's attention so narrowly that the nature of their learning becomes hypnotic rather than merely conscious. This kind of learning feels a lot more profound for people. But there are different kinds of audience trances..

Avoiding the boredom trance

If you are uninspiring then your audience may certainly psychologically "leave the room" not by following your ideas but as an attempt to escape your talk. They might start to imagine what they'll do later, what they'll cook for dinner, or their upcoming social arrangements. They are disassociated but not in the way we want them to be. There are specific techniques to compel your audiences in just the right way.

Crowd hypnosis

The greatest public presenters will captivate audiences with their words and gestures. They'll use expectation, language, story-telling and "future pacing" which means they'll implant ideas for their listeners to act upon in future. This is all hypnotic. Hypnotic speakers don't just give the facts they will give their listeners an experience that will change the way they feel, think or behave. Hypnotic presenting appeals to the part of the mind that the greatest pieces of poetry or music do. In fact truly world beating public talks have a real rhythm.

The poetry of presenting

The best speeches like the best hypnotic inductions have a kind of trance rhyme to them which draws you in and makes you forget anything other than the speech.

Listen to Sir Winston Churchill on YouTube:

He uses repetition, emotive words, he paints a picture of a positive future beyond current hard times but he doesn't lie to his listeners by pretending things are going to be easy. He connects what is important to his listeners, he evokes strong images. And like the language of storytelling or even epic myth he talks about avoiding an oncoming "Dark age" by fierce, proud, brave and collective struggle.

In some of Churchill's speeches his language is almost confusing which is a favourite hypnotic technique too as it"ties up the conscious mind" and appeals more directly to the unconscious which absorbs it often before the conscious mind has untangled it : "Never was so much owed by so many to so few." He says when talking about the heavily outnumbered RAF men who fought the famous Battle of Britain. We know what he means without following the logical thread of the statement.

If you want to be more hypnotic to captivate the attention of your audience then you might like to put these following tips into action (which are expanded in the new 10 steps to powerful public speaking course)
  1. Pepper your speech with words that appeal to feelings.
Words that people have to "go inwards" to connect their personal meaning with are called nominalisations and they are hypnotic. These are words like: "Powerful, beautiful, love, wisdom, strength"...and so on. Make sure these kinds of words fit with what you are saying but they will produce more of a response than more "concrete" type words.
  2. Paint pictures in your listeners' minds by overlapping their senses.
When we hypnotize someone we are seeking to give them a dream-like experience. And of course we dream in pictures, but also sounds, sensations, tastes, and emotions. If you are telling a story in your speech about something that happened to you tell them what you saw, felt, heard, tasted and so forth. This makes it so much more evocative. "I went to the mall and saw a fight" doesn't draw you as much as: "I was heaving a heavy shopping bag through the mall when I heard a sickening scream, I turned and saw two huge guys trying to mug an old lady who karate kicked them to kingdom come - you could almost smell their fear...!" Be descriptive. Which reminds me...
  3. Tell stories. Even if you are delivering a speech about molecular biology there are stories to be told - tell them engrossingly.
  4. Use your voice to fascinate. Sometimes speed up and sometimes slow...down... a bit. Not all the time or else you will annoy but think about the importance and relevance of your words. When it's a point you feel is important, slow down a bit and occasionally you can even talk the calm, slow delivery of a real hypnotist.
  5. Use unexpectedness. We go into hypnotic trance when we relax but also when we are startled, surprised or even shocked. Great speakers use humor because it can be hypnotic. Humor surprises you - a punch line has a "punch" because it causes surprise. Hypnotists (especially of the stage show variety) will often use "shock "to fast track subjects into hypnotic trance, so be a little surprising here and there to keep your audience focused, then refocused. This technique when presenting is startlingly powerful.

In the end, it's all about the emotion

Study the effect communication has on people. Just the bits of sound we call "words." It can make them angry, weep, be prepared to go into battle and change their life infinitely for the better. Words don't have to be "just words." Hypnotise your audience to help them feel something real when you speak.

Release Your Emotional Baggage!

By Tanya Fleeting

"Bag Lady you gone hurt you're back draggin' all them bags like that!"- Erykah Badu

Many of us walk around carrying excess baggage! The unresolved emotional hurts and scars we have accumulated throughout our life's journey. We fill our emotional baggage with our psychological pain! We also take the pain of our negative experiences broken and or dysfunctional relationships and internalize them.

Very often these feelings are so deeply embedded in our unconscious mind, we are not even aware that they exist. However they do existence and can cause serious harm to our mental, emotional and physical well being. As well as delaying the manifestation of authentic self!

Our emotional baggage is similar to the baggage we see going around and around on the luggage claim belt in the airport. Imagine if no one took their bags off the belt and every time a new plane landed more bags were added. Eventually the belt would become congested and probably stop working due to the heavy stain and stresses of all the extra bags. Our emotional baggage works in quite a similar fashion. If we carry around bags that we have had packed for years... and keep adding more and more bags our bodies and minds became weighed down and in a since stop working.

There are many ""by products" of emotional baggage... addictions, overeating, stress, over spending and several other detrimental side effects. These side effects may include inviting similar hurtful experiences, and or new ones into our lives. This occurs because the original hurt that has not been resolved gives way to negative emotion and fear( remember fear is "False Evidence Appearing Real"). These negative emotions and fears appear justified and correct in our minds and begin to affect our self image and behavior and therefore All of our relationships, not just the romantic ones. You may have even found someone with matching luggage and together create a steady stream of negative energy and emotion.

What's stuffed inside your bags?

Do you have a bag that contains insecurity and doubt? You probably started packing it in early childhood. Maybe your parents put the first few items in by not loving you the way you deserved or needed to be loved. This is not a condemnation on their parenting, remember someone started packing their bags too... and we can't teach what we have not yet learned!

Maybe you have a special occasion bag filled with disappointed and resentment. You take out this bag whenever you need to remind yourself that success and fulfillment are not possibilities for you. This bag is usually worn when making career of major life decision. "I am not smart enough to pursue a college education," "I could never own my own business" sound familiar? If so you've got some unpacking to do!

Are you walking around with a bag filled with blame and the refusal to take responsibility for your current circumstances, cultivating a "poor me" victim's mentality?

Do you still carry that bag that matches with everything? Although the bag itself is pretty worn out you still carry it. This bag holds hurts, betrayals, and the spirit of unforgiveness. You take this bag everywhere you go. You've taken it with you into every relationship you've ever had and its contents keeps growing and growing because you keep packing more stuff inside.

If you have left the painful or abusive relationship, grown up and moved away from the dysfunctional household or recovered from that addiction don't keep the bags you packed while you were in those situations... if you have put those things out... don't keep the bags!

If any of this is resonating with you then it must be time for you to start unpacking!

The process of unpacking can only begin when you RELEASE!

Realize only you hold the power to change your destiny!
Eliminate negative people from your life.
Let it go!! And start thinking about your future not your past.
Eradicate negative thoughts.
Always forgive, it provides a pathway to your healing.
Stop reliving past hurts and disappointments.
Empty out those bags and start living baggage free!

In order to RELEASE you must be willing to dedicate your time, energy and attention toward change! It will not be a simple or quick process, it may even be painful and the services or a professional therapist may be needed to help you process the emotions you will experience.; but take a moment to imagine how exhilarating it will feel to connect with your authentic self and live your life without the constant barrage of negative thoughts and feeling weighing you down.

Make the choice to begin to RELEASE Your Emotional Baggage today!
